Peterborough Police Service is looking for the public’s assistance in connection with a distraction theft.
On December 21, 2024, officers were made aware of the incident at a financial institution in the Monaghan Road and Lansdowne Street area. In this case, a 74-year-old woman was approached by a male suspect and was told that she didn’t finish her transaction, the man grabbed her card and tapped it. It’s then believed the card was swapped with another one and the victim’s card was used for more fraudulent transactions. In all, just over $1800 was taken.
Male Suspect One:
- Tan complexion
- Approximately 5’5″ tall.
- Brown winter hat
- Wearing a medical mask
- Tan coat
- Black pants
- Brown and black shoes
Male Suspect Two:
- Tan complexion
- Red and white winter hat with a maple leaf on it
- Wearing a medical mask
- Maroon sweater
- Black pants
Female Suspect One:
- Tan complexion
- Brown hair
- Green/olive sweater
Female Suspect Two:
- Tan complexion
- Purple winter hat with a white pompom on the top. Lettering saying “CANADA” on the front of it.
- Grey coat
