Three people were arrested and drugs and a drone were seized in Brighton on the weekend.
Around 3:15 a.m. Saturday, Northumberland OPP responded to a report from Warkworth Institution regarding a suspicious vehicle in the area of McCann Road in Brighton.
Officers patrolled the area and stopped a vehicle with no front licence plate on County Road 30.
After detecting an odor of cannabis coming from the vehicle, police initiated a search finding a drone, cellphones, $1000 in Canadian currency, cannabis and a small quantity of unknown drugs which are still to be identified.
Juan Luis Gueye Vargas, age 18, from St-Anne-Desplaines, Quebec, has been charged with:
– Mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property
– Person under 19 years – possess cannabis
– Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis in open baggage
– Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
– Fail to surrender insurance card
– Dirty plate
– Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle.
The two 17-year-old male passengers from Montreal, Quebec, have been charged with:
– Mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property
– Person under 19 years – possess cannabis.
The young persons will not be named due to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
All accused are due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.
