A new councillor is joining Brighton’s council.
Hannah MacAusland has been appointed to the seat left vacant after the passing of councillor Byron Faretis.
MacAusland, a Brighton native, was chosen from a pool of nine applicants for the council position.
Council voted not to appoint the next place finisher from the last election, William Schmidt, because he is not eligible as he no longer lives in the community.
MacAusland will take the oath of office at a public meeting prior to February 7.
