The City of Belleville says the province of Ontario will be providing $1.25 million in funding towards the redevelopment of the old fairgrounds property.
The city says that the project would see a new road constructed from Bridge Street West and Dunnett Boulevard into the old fairgrounds.
This would allow for approximately 300 medium- and high-density residential housing units.
The road will include a sidewalk and multi-use pathway and will have full municipal sanitary, stormwater and water services.
