Hastings County Council has elected councillor Tony Fitzgerald as its Deputy Warden of Hastings County for 2025 and 2026.
Fitzgerald is mayor of the municipality of Hastings Highlands.
The Deputy Warden will be required to fulfill their normal duties as a member of Hastings County Council, and is responsible to support the Warden in fulfilling their responsibilities as the Head of Hastings County Council under the Municipal Act.
Fitzgerald will also be the chair of the Finance, Property and Personnel Committee and when asked by the Warden, he will perform the duties of Head of
Council, will represent the Warden, will support advocacy efforts of the Warden, and carry out additional functions in their role.
Fitzgerald takes over for councillor Paul Jenkins, who served as Deputy Warden in 2023 and 2024.
