Stirling-Rawdon council is changing the way fines are handled for local by-law infractions.
Mayor Bob Mullin tells Quinte News that instead of having to work through provincial court by-law infractions and subsequent fines, they will be handled by the municipality through what’s known as the administrative penalty system, or “apps.”
“If you go through “apps” then you can apply that (fine) to the property tax bill so it keeps it internal and really reduces the number of unpaid fines and makes them easier to enforce.”
Many other municipalities in the province are now using the administrative penalty system.
