On January 17, 2025 at approximately 10 p.m., members of the Kingston Police Patrol Division responded to a report of break and enter in progress at a residence on Nelson Street.
Responding officers, which included members of the Emergency Response Unit and K9 Unit immediately attended the area and established a containment perimeter around the neighbouring subdivision.
Officers were advised by the complainant that the suspect had fled the residence on foot. A subsequent K9 track commenced which continued through several backyards before leading officers to a carport in the area of Toronto Street.
Officers discovered the suspect hiding within the carport. Numerous items were located by the K9 team during the search and subsequent arrest which were of significant evidentiary value to the incident.
A 30-year-old Kingston resident was arrested and charged with break and enter, theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of breach of probation. The accused was transported to Kingston police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
