Environment Canada has issued a Snow Squall Watch for Prince Edward County.
Snow Squall Watch in effect for:
- Picton – Sandbanks Park
Lake effect snow squalls off Lake Ontario beginning late this afternoon.
What:
Heavy lake effect snow with accumulations of 20 to 30 cm, particularly over the southern part of Prince Edward County. Reduced visibility, near zero at times, in heavy snow and blowing snow.
When:
Late this afternoon into Wednesday morning.
Additional information:
Lake effect snow off Lake Ontario is expected to develop late this afternoon or early this evening.
Locations from Sandbanks to Milford and south should see the highest snowfall amounts.
In addition, westerly winds gusting up to 60 km/h will result in significantly reduced visibility in blowing snow.
Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common.
Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
