The Ontario Special Investigations Unit is investigating after an incident in Stone Mills Township.
Lennox and Addington OPP officers were responding to a home along County Road 4 on Friday, just after 5pm, for a call about a disturbance.
After arriving, officers spoke to a man who exited the home while carrying a bladed weapon. Police fired at the man using an anti-riot weapon enfield, and their firearm.
The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
No other details have been released by the OPP.
