Highway 401 west remains closed at Burnham Street in Cobourg following a fatal multi-vehicle collision Thursday morning.
Northumberland OPP say the collision involved both passenger vehicles and tractor trailers.
A 70-year-old male driver from Colborne died as a result, while four other people were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
It’s not known when the highway will reopen.
Detours are in place.
