A tragic crash east of 8 Wing Trenton snarled traffic for hours on Tuesday.
Just before 4:00 p.m., Quinte West OPP, Fire, Hastings Quinte Paramedics, along with first responders from the base responded to Old Highway 2 in Bayside, for a crash involving a pickup truck and a car.
Two people have been confirmed dead, a 26-year-old man from Stirling-Rawdon, along with a 5-year-old passenger.
The 33-year-old driver of the pickup truck was taken to hospital, with unspecified injuries.
The highway was closed between Whites Road and RCAF Road until around 9:00 p.m. while the technical collision and the reconstructionist teams combed the scene.
OPP are asking anyone with dashcam footage or information to contact the Quinte West detachment.
