The New Year’s Levee for the City of Quinte West happened Sunday.
Duncan McDonald Memorial Community Gardens was packed with games and face painting for kids, snacks and drinks, along with a free skate with the Trenton Golden Hawks.
Mayor Jim Harrison says it is important for residents to be able to meet and chat with their council in a more relaxed setting.
“The idea from our point of view, the council, we want to get the family out. We want the mother, dad, and the children to enjoy the levee. I think we’ve, this year in particular, really achieved our goal.”
“We’ll it’s more relaxed and it’s not all politics – other issues, other concerns, other ideas. It’s a relaxed atmosphere and conducive to conversation.”
