An inmate has died at Warkworth Institution.
James Gallant passed away in a hospital medical centre on Sunday.
On January 3, 2025, Northumberland OPP were called in the evening, following an altercation at the prison.
Gallant was taken to a local hospital and then airlifted for further treatment.
He was serving a nine-year, nine-month, and 19-day sentence for offences including robbery, disguise with intent, assault of a peace officer, failure to comply with probation order, trafficking in schedule I/II substances, among others.
The 30-year-old’s family has been notified, as has the coroner’s office.
The Northumberland OPP Crime Unit is investigating and no other details can be released at this time.
