Northumberland County is now offering septic system reinspections for property owners with existing septic systems.
The inspections are to ensure the existing systems are still functioning properly, and to make sure there aren’t any sewage outbreaks or repairs needed.
The service is being offered for properties in Port Hope, Cobourg, Alnwick/Haldimand Township, Brighton, Cramahe and Hamilton.
Septic tank inspections are only required by law when the system is built.
