The OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit have found and returned a trailer of stolen property, less than 12 hours after it was reported stolen.
Shortly after 8 a.m. on Thursday, a theft was reported at a construction site on Phillips Road in Tyendinaga Township. It’s believed the large, enclosed trailer was taken around 3 a.m. that morning. Custom windows, power tools, and other equipment were also taken from the job site. The total value of the stolen property was estimated to be over $50,000.
Members of the Street Crime Unit began an investigation, which led them to a location on Trudeau Lane in Tweed. Officers were able to find both the trailer and other items, and return the stolen property to its owner.
The investigation into who stole the trailer continues. Police are asking anyone with information to contact the OPP Community Street Crime Unit.
