Domestic Dispute leads to charges
On January 10, 2025 at 12:25 a.m., police attended a residence in the city’s west end after receiving reports of an active domestic dispute. Upon arrival, police spoke to the female involved. The involved male had departed the residence prior to police arrival. Police learned that during the dispute, the male struck the female in the face with a carton of chocolate milk and later struck her again with his fist. Police further learned that the male is on probation and is on a court release order not to be within 200 metres of the female victim. The victim did not require medical attention.
Police are continuing their investigation and will be requesting an arrest warrant for the 48-year-old Belleville man for assault, assault with a weapon, two counts of failing to comply with a probation order and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Collision Reporting Centre expands services
The Collision Reporting Centre (CRC) has announced a new program, Start from Home, which allows motorists involved in a minor collision to report the incident from the comfort of home.
After a minor collision, citizens can head home and input key information online, such as personal details, the other party’s information, passenger and witness details, and a statement. Once completed, they will receive a reference number to bring with them when attending the CRC, located at the Belleville Police Service (459 Sidney Street).
Upon arrival at the CRC with their vehicle, citizens follow the standard process, including validation, photographs, and statement review. This system streamlines the process, enabling faster service, especially during busy periods, as it allows citizens to start reports in advance.
