In recent weeks there have been rumours that the AHL Belleville Senators could be on the move to Hamilton in a few years once renovations to the First Ontario Centre are complete.
However, the owner of the Belleville Senators, not to mention the Ottawa Senators, put that rumour to rest last night.
Michael Andlauer said history will not repeat itself after he bought the Belleville Bulls in 2015 and moved them to the aforementioned arena in downtown Hamilton where they became the OHL Bulldogs.
Ironically, the Bulldogs have since been displaced from that facility and are now in their second season in Brantford.
During a live intermission interview during Thursday night’s Ottawa Senators telecast on TSN, Andlauer, wearing a red and white ball cap with “613” emblazoned across the front (area code for Ottawa and Belleville) put rumours regarding the relocation of the B-Sens to bed.
One rumour Andlauer did not put to rest was about a potential sale of the OHL Bulldogs.
The Belleville Senators’ lease at CAA Arena has two years remaining following this season.
