The City of Belleville says it is close to opening Victoria Harbour for skating.
On Thursday, Parks and Rec staff were testing the depth of the ice outside the Quinte News studios on the Bay of Quinte, adjacent to the mouth of the Moira River.

Safe skating requires nine inches of ice and 10 inches are needed to take equipment out to clear, clean, and prepare the surface.
As of Thursday afternoon there were eight inches.

City staff say it could be ready within a few days.
They are also asking residents to not throw rocks onto the ice, as stones/rocks melt ice and damage the surface and city clearing equipment.
