Belleville police responded to 82 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on January 8, 2025 to 5 a.m. on January 9, 2025
Criminal Harassment:
On January 7, 2025 at 7:44 p.m., Belleville police responded to an incident regarding harassment. Officers spoke to the female victim and learned that she had received multiple calls from her ex-boyfriend despite there being a court-ordered peace bond in place. On January 8, the 33-year-old male from Picton attended the Belleville Police Service where he was arrested and charged with criminal harassment and failing to comply with a peace bond. He was released on an undertaking with a court date in February. The name of the accused is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim.
Assault:
On January 9, 2025 at 3:05 a.m., Belleville police attended a residence in the city’s east end after receiving a call from a female advising that her mother had been assaulted. Officers attended the residence and spoke to the victim. The victim sustained physical injuries from the assault and Hasting-Quinte Paramedics attended to treat the injuries. The male suspect who was the victim’s boyfriend, had fled the scene prior to police arrival. Police searched the area and were able to locate him. The 46-year-old male from Brighton was arrested and charged with assault. He was later released on an undertaking with a court date in February. The name of the accused is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim.
