A strike has been avoided in a labour dispute involving Ontario college faculty, including those at Loyalist College.
The bargaining agent for Ontario’s 24 public colleges, the College Employer Council, and the faculty union said late Tuesday that they had agreed to enter into binding arbitration after months of talks.
The Ontario Public Services Employees Union had said some form of labour action could have begun on Thursday after it gave five days’ notice last week.
The union says significant benefits gains were agreed upon with the employers, though other issues include work conditions, job security and quality of education.
