With 2025 finally upon us, the Belleville Chamber of Commerce has big plans for the year to come.
Quinte News spoke to Jill Raycroft to get a look at what’s coming for the chamber in the new year.
Raycroft said they are planning a study into the types of jobs in the community to better understand the local labour market. The study started with some basics in 2024, laying the groundwork for a more comprehensive examination in the coming year.
“We need to do a deeper dive. So 2025 will see us do more work on that,” said Raycroft. “The long-term goal is to emphasize that Belleville is a great place to work. There are lots of opportunities here.”
While the chamber had previously been told that the area had an abundance of low-skill labour jobs, the initial study found the labour market in the area to be much more diverse, with opportunities in many fields.
The study goes alongside a planned effort to encourage youth to stay in the region, rather than moving away as they transition into adulthood.
