Belleville’s Mayor Neil Ellis is touting a big year for business and industry in Belleville for 2025.
Speaking with Quinte News as part of its ongoing chat with community leaders and local politicians previewing the year ahead, Ellis says that he expects more industry to make its way to the region.
“We are looking at servicing the rest of our industrial land. We have about 500 acres that are not serviced,” Ellis tells Quinte News.
“Council has passed to service this land, and my prediction is we’re going to sell at least a couple hundred acres to over 25 industries that want to set up in Belleville … my prediction in 2025 is more jobs coming, more tax base and industry.”
Ellis also indicated that he is anticipating a growth in commercial business coming to the region.
“When I look at the ribbon cuttings and openings of whether it’s a hamburger place or a restaurant or a private college, we’ve opened many business for 2024, probably a record amount, I see more business open,” Ellis said.
“I’m looking forward to some major announcements on the commercial front also.”
Ellis reiterated that he expects to see some major industrial growth for Belleville.
“We have the land, we have the location, we have the workforce. I would think that in 2025 we’re going to have some major announcements of industry coming.”
