The Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte are preparing for a lot of expansion projects heading into 2025.
Chief R. Don Maracle tells Quinte News that among them are a several water projects.
“The Peatland Wastewater Treatment system that services the Quinte Mohawk School and phase two of the subdivision expansion is going to cost around $6 million, we’re currently lobbying Indigenous Services Canada for that money,” Maracle tells Quinte News.
“The Quinte Mohawk School’s interior water supply system, additional work, $100,000 there was a cost overrun for the work that was just completed, and Indigenous Services Canada is looking at covering that.”
Maracle outlined a study that is planned to be underway.
“The centralized wastewater feasibility study, we need to start looking at building a sewage treatment plant,” Maracle said.
“We’ve requested the department to fund $250,000 for that and so that’s that’s currently the projects that are underway.”
Maracle also said there are plans for an ambulance bay as well as an addition to the police services building.
The costs for those are still to be determined.
