Quinte News continues its look ahead to 2025.
Hastings County Warden Bob Mullin says more affordable housing is on the horizon including this year’s anticipated completion of a seven-unit building in Bancroft.
“We are in the process of approving the new build in Quinte West, that’ll be a 32-unit affordable housing on South Street. Just continue to improve, work on the facilities. Our housing stock is aging and it’s all we can do to keep that up and in shape.”
Also this year, Hastings County will continue to work on efficiencies that will help all of its municipalities function better.
Mullin says its about working together including shared services and economic development.
“On the economic development side we’re doing some reviewing as to updating our resources, both land and people. And with the shutdown of the Cascade plant in Trenton, we’re looking at some opportunities there. Just some sort of more county-wide approaches than municipal-wide.”
Mullin says Hastings County has been an employer of choice and training and keeping employees has been a priority and will remain so.
