Belleville police say the deceased person in a sudden death investigation in Brighton is missing Belleville resident Andrew Robinson.
Northumberland OPP received a report from CN police of a person found in the area of the train tracks near Ontario Street just before 4 p.m. on Monday.
Emergency crews arrived and confirmed the person to be deceased.
Trains were stopped in the area for some time and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario was notified.
OPP informed Belleville police that the deceased was 26-year-old Andrew Robinson.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death is currently underway.
A post-mortem examination is to be conducted by the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service in Kingston.
Police at this time do not believe the death to be suspicious and say there is no threat to public safety.
On Tuesday, members of the Emergency Response Team and the Canine Unit also attended the location to perform a coordinated search of the area.
Officers are also canvassing the area for CCTV footage and seeking possible lines of inquiry with residents and businesses in and around the location.
