A 38-year-old Cobourg man is facing multiple charges after police made an arrest with the assistance of the
public Saturday afternoon.
On Saturday, December 28, 2024, at approximately 2:10 p.m., members of the Cobourg Police Service Criminal
Investigation Branch and Bail Compliance Initiative were in the area of Elgin Street East and Denton Drive in
Cobourg when they observed a male known to be wanted on an outstanding warrant with another police
service.
Officers approached the male and attempted to take him into custody at which time he began to assault the
arresting officer. Several members of the public who were driving by stopped their vehicles and assisted the
officer in taking the male into custody.
During the arrest, a replica firearm, a quantity of drugs, and stolen bank cards were located on the male.
As a result, 38-year-old Kyle Grieder of Cobourg was arrested and charged with the following offences:
1. Assault with intent to resist arrest
2. Possession of imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose
3. Carry concealed weapon
4. Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (other than heroin)
5. Possession of a schedule I substance – crystal methamphetamine
6. Possession of a schedule I substance
7. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
The accused was held for a show cause hearing and has since been remanded into custody.
