Quinte News looked back at the year that was in the County of Prince Edward.
Mayor Steve Ferguson says there were many positives, however the biggest celebration came around the ground breaking of the new hospital.
The sod turning took place for the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital, which will be located directly behind the current hospital in Picton.
Another major project is the new Wellington waste water treatment project, which the municipality received $18.3-million from the Provincial Government.
That can provide capacity for 4,000 new homes.
Housing is one of His Worship’s main priorities.
He indicated that there has been progress on the Queen Elizabeth school property.
Ferguson says the goal there is for close to 200 units, about half of which would be directed towards affordable housing.
Late in the year the municipality approved the budget for the upcoming year.
Mayor Ferguson says he is grateful to staff and council for all the work that has been done.
He indicated the budget process began in June and there are increasing pressure’s on the budget, coming from health and infrastructure needs.
