Northumberland OPP responded to a report of a person calling for help near Hastings.
Police received a call on Boxing Day at around 4:35 p.m. from a member of the public saying they could hear a male’s voice calling out for help near the Trent Severn Waterway in the area of Valley View Lane.
Officers along with Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Municipality of Trent Hills Fire Department proceeded to the area and patrolled trails and roads on both sides of the waterway.
Despite the use of drones as well as efforts from OPP’s Aviation Services, search results came back negative.
The area was cleared at around 9 p.m.
Police believe that the person in distress was somewhere on the south side of the waterway at the location however, at this time, nobody has been located.
