Northumberland OPP have laid down a long list of charges after a speeding incident on Highway 401.
On Saturday, officers were doing speed enforcement when they found a vehicle driving at 165 kph in a 110 kph zone.
The vehicle was stopped, and officers saw cannabis inside the vehicle. After searching the vehicle, officers found brass knuckles, a folding knife, 60 grams of cannabis and approximately 250 grams of hash. Officers estimate the street value of the drugs to be over $900.
Both the driver and a passenger were arrested and taken to the local detachment.
Twenty-five year old Malcolm Jagdeo from North York was charged with possession of over 30g of dried cannabis, stunt driving, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon, and two counts of breach of recognizance. In addition, his driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days, and his vehicle was impounded for two weeks.
Thirty-two year old Mustapha Alawiye from Toronto was charged with knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of over 30g of dried cannabis, and two counts of breach of a probation order.
Both suspects are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a later date.
