Breakaway Fuels U11 AAA Quinte Red Devils Head into the Christmas Break in First Place
This weekend the U11 red devils faced two tough teams in Kingston and Whitby and walked away with 4 points
On Saturday the young devils hosted the Junior Gaels in Colborne. This was a very thigh checking game through two periods with the devils holding a narrow 2-1 lead heading into the third frame. Jackson Simpson scored both goals with assists to Kai Mackie and Ethan Dowling on both.
In the third Dowling scored a shorthanded marker form Mackie to put the devils up 3-1 before Simpson completed the hat trick again from Mackie and Dowling. Charlie Dwyer would add a late marker from Jayden Stehlik to complete the 5-1 victory. Jordan Andrews was solid in net and Simpson took home player of the game.
Sunday the boys headed to Whitby to face the Wildcats. This one started off fast with Quinte pushing the pace and jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first period. Goals by Simpson, Mackie and Stehlik and assists going to Dowling (2), Avery Thickson, Simpson and Dwyer. After a tough second period that saw Whitby claw back into the game scoring two goals the devils buckled down in the third and managed a 5-3 win to head into the Christmas break in first place in the OMHA East. Third period goals were scored by Simpson and Mackie. Deacon Vos stood tall in the pipes and the whole team was awarded the Devils Fork for an outstanding first half of the season.

The Jason’s Moving U18 Quinte Red Devils travelled to the Barrie/Orillia this past weekend
The team played the North Central Predators (T 2-2). Goal-scorers were Gulliver (Lesser), and Grant (Doyle), with Bowlby in nets. Next the Devils had two very physical & tight games against the Barrie Jr Colts (L 4-2), and (L 4-6). The scores did not reflect the competitiveness of either game.
The first game remained as a tie right until 7 seconds left in the 3rd period. Bales played well in nets despite the final score. Gulliver (2) was the lone goal scorer in the 1st matchup against Barrie, while, and Babbs, Brown chipped in on assists.
In the second game against Barrie, the score was briefly tied at 2-2 in the second period, and remained a one-goal game at 3-2 Barrie, well into the 3rd period. Despite The boys trailing on the score board for most of the game, they gave their full effort right through to the end of the game. They continued to score a short-handed goal, and a final goal by the Devils with only seconds left in the game, displaying their tenacity & grit, even when they were the trailing team. Lavendar, Lesser, Albright & Doyle found the back of the net in that game, while Albright, Lavender, Asimis (2), and Short chipped in with helpers on the goals.
On Deck: Christmas break & they’ll be back at it in the New Year 2025!

On Deck: The Toronto Marlboros Holiday Classic Dec 27-30th
The Gillespie’s Tree Service U15 AAA Quinte Red Devils had a pair of games in this last week before the holiday break. Looking to build on their momentum from last weekend the squad hosted the newly formed North Shore Whitecaps in tier first meeting of the season on Wednesday night. Trent Clow got the scoring started on the power play in the first period banging home a rebound off a Lauchlan Whelan shot. North Shore would tie it up before the end of the first on a 5 on 3 powerplay of their own. The White Caps would add a second marker before the end of the first to make it a 2-1 game heading into the break. All the offense in the second and third periods belonged to the Red Devils. Andrew Laurin finished off a great passing play with Whelan and Jax Martin to tie the game up early in the second period and that’s how we would head into the second intermission. The teams would stay knotted at 2 through most of the third period before Brechen Aird fired the game winning goal home with assists going to Laurin and Clow. Sunday saw another road trip up the 404 to take on the York Simcoe Express for game 2 of the season series. The Red Devils took an early 1-0 lead after Lauchlan Whelan knocked down a pass and went end to end for an unassisted tally. This was all the offence the team could muster with YSE scoring to late goals to take down QRD by a 2-1 score.
The squad heads into the holiday break firmly positioned in the top 5 in the league just past the half way point in the regular season.
On Deck: Over the break the team is looking forward to the challenge of the Toronto Marlboros Holiday Classic Dec 27-30 and the OMHA Crossover Weekend in Milton Jan 3-4.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our fans as well as the rest of the QRD teams and families Happy Holidays! We will see all of our supporters back in the rink after the break.
