Quinte News had the chance to speak with Hastings-Lennox and Addington MPP Ric Bresee as part of its ongoing look back on 2024.
Bresee says the riding has seen a lot of economic growth and activity in the last year.
“A couple of things in Napanee specifically, the expansion of the Goodyear plant was a tremendous win. It ensures not only the stability of the current employment, but growth in employment in that area. The more work we can do in the manufacturing sector, the better it is for the entire local economy,” Bresee said.
“Along those lines, on the housing front, we were able to achieve use of a funding grant for the town of Greater Napanee to support their expansion and replacement of their wastewater management system.”
What was a personal highlight for Bresee in 2024 was the passing of Bill 99: Garrett’s Legacy Act.
‘That is in reference to the loss of one of our young people a few years ago (related to) soccer nets,” Bresee tells Quinte News.
“This new bill will ensure that there are regulations aimed at the safety of those mobile soccer nets and I was very proud to see that get passed.”
