The Laval Rocket slipped past the Belleville senators 2-1 on Friday night.
Maxence Guenette scored for the Senators.
Neither team was able to score in a deadlocked first period, before the Rocket opened scoring in the second. The Senators answered with a goal of their own, before moving on to the third period. In the third, the Rocket broke the tie, and held on to their slim lead to take the win.
Belleville Senators head coach Dave Bell said it was hard to play in a game where both teams were earning a large number of penalties.
“Not a lot of flow to the game,” said Coach Bell. “I thought our penalty kill was good. But just a messy, sloppy game that I thought – if we could have reeled it in and played with a bit of flow and structure we might’ve had a chance – but that wasn’t meant to be tonight.”
The Senators are back in action on Saturday night, hosting the Springfield Thunderbirds at CAA Arena.
