Quinte West OPP have laid charges in an impaired driving investigation.
On Friday, December 13, 2024, at approximately 10 p.m., officers were conducting a RIDE program on the Highway 401 off-ramp at Trenton-Frankford Road.
An Approved Screening Device was utilized for one driver resulting in that person’s arrest.
A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of approximately 14 grams of suspected methamphtamine and the arrest of the passenger.
Jordan Haggett, 30 years old from Trenton, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
- Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
- Drive motor vehicle – no licence
Matthew Sweet, 30 years old from Kingston, has been charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance – methamphetamine
Both accused parties were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville at a future date.
The vehicle was impounded for seven days, and the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.
