The spirit of fun and fundraising was behind the annual Trenton Kiwanis Luncheon on Friday afternoon.
It was held at its new location at the Trenton Legion.
The afternoon included some lighthearted roasting, games, an auction, music, and lots of comaraderie.
The majority of the proceeds from the event support Catherine’s Kitchen, assisting those who need it in the Quinte West community.
Program Director Carla Sowden spoke to the more than 130 people gathered Friday.
“I just want to thank you so much for having me out today. This past November we were able to get our own independent charity number. So now we stand alone. We have moved from the At The Crossroads Church, we are now located at St James Church, on South Street.”

She says demand is big this time of year.
“The need is great and every day I want to help people. I found that God has put me into this place so I can help more and more people on a regular basis.”
Although the final numbers have not been tallied, it is believed more than $80,000 was raised by the event, in its 73rd year.
