Cobourg police previously reported that on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, police opened an investigation after receiving a report of a break and enter, after the fact, at a business on Buchanan Street.
On Sunday, November 24, 2024, four storage units at a business located on Buchanan Street were entered by unknown suspects. Crime officers attended the business to process the scene.
Based on security footage, there are believed to be five suspects in this matter. Among the items reported missing from the unit is a full-size hunting crossbow that is camouflage in colour.

Through police investigation, a male suspect was identified and on Tuesday, December 10th, 2024 at
5:00 p.m., a 35-year-old male from Cobourg was arrested and charged with:
1. Possession of Break-in Instruments
2. Break and Enter – commit theft over $5,000
3. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
4. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 x 2
5. Breach of Probation x 2
The accused was held for a bail hearing on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 and remanded into custody.
