There was a big increase in building activity in Quinte West in November.
The municipality’s Building Department issued 86 permits with a construction value of $15.3 million last month, well above the 46 permits worth $5.3 million in November 2023.
There were 27 permits issued for new residential construction.
In additon, there was a $550,000 permit granted for new commercial construction at 342 Sidney Street and a $175,000 permit for work to be done at Cascades Containerboard on Marmora Street.
Year to date building activity is also ahead of last year.
Through the end of November, 620 permits with a construction value of $184 million have been issued.
There were 577 permits worth $134.6 million issued during the first 11 months of 2023.
To date in 2024, building activity in the City of Quinte West has netted the municipality just over a million dollars in building permit fees and $2.6 million in development charges.
