The Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board has redesigned and relaunched the Bay of Quinte Immigration Portal.
The portal, first introduced in 2015, is a marketing and information website designed to attract and welcome new Canadians to our area.
The updated version has been simplified making it relevant and easy to navigate and understand for those who may choose to move here from another country, or after their initial immigration to Canada.
It features information about important topics like healthcare, education, systems
navigation, employment and housing, specifically from that point of view.
The Regional Marketing Board worked in collaboration with Snap 360 on the technical web build and the Quinte Local Immigration Partnership on the content side.
“The folks from Quinte Immigration really understand what new Canadians need on a site like this because they’re working with them on a daily basis to help them navigate this new country, a new culture, and a multitude of new systems—so they were integral to this process,” says Dug Stevenson, Bay of Quinte’s executive director. “Ultimately, the federal and provincial governments have created a lot of excellent resources related to immigration, so much of what we do on the site is to point people in those directions. The other thing we try to do is feature stories about new Canadians who have moved here to show others what life in this region can look like.”
Over a dozen such accounts are currently featured on the site, about new Canadians living in the participating communities, which include Belleville, Brighton, Hastings County, Napanee, Prince Edward County and Quinte West.
“The Quinte Local Immigration Partnership is proud to collaborate once again with our long-time partner, Bay of Quinte, to enhance this vital resource for newcomers to our community,” says Cat Fisher Andrews, program coordinator for the Quinte Local Immigration Partnership. “The redesigned portal is user-friendly and efficiently organized, offering newcomers quick access to essential information on every aspect of settling into our community. We received an overwhelmingly positive response from clients who tested the new site ahead of its official launch. In today’s environment, newcomers require a wide range of support to successfully integrate, and this portal serves as a comprehensive one-stop resource, but it also provides much-needed local referrals and community connections.“
The website was featured at a launch event in downtown Belleville on November 22, attended by regional stakeholder organizations and new Canadians who have recently made a home in the Bay of Quinte, as well as Bay of Quinte riding MPP Tyler Allsopp.
