Prince Edward County OPP say a proactive foot patrol on Main Street in Wellington led to impaired driving charges.
Police were on foot patrol at around 8:45 p.m. on November 23 when they spotted a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.
Officers were able to make contact with the lone occupant of the vehicle a short time later.
After screening, the driver was arrested and taken to the Prince Edward County OPP detachment for further testing.
Twenty-seven-year-old Tristan Peacock from Prince Edward County OPP was arrested and charged with the following:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Having care or control of a vehicle with open container of liquor
- Novice driver with blood alcohol content above zero
- Operation of a vehicle without insurance
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on December 11, 2024.
Their licence is suspended for 90 days, and vehicle impounded for seven days.
