We’re about to flip the calendar over to December and that means the beginning of the annual Feed the Meter – Feed the Kids campaign.
Parking will be free in the downtown areas of Belleville and Picton all month long but people are urged to put money into the meters as the money collected will be used to provide nutritious meals and snacks to students throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
Meanwhile, Food for Learning organizers are offering a new way to donate to the program.
People are urged to visit this website and donate through a “virtual” parking meter.
Food for Learning officials say a $1.75 donation provides one student with one meal while a $52.50 donation pays for one meal for 30 students.
