An affordable housing development project in Deloro is getting an extension to its deal with Hastings County.
The decision was approved at a meeting of Hastings County council on Thursday.
All-Together Housing and Springale Development are overseeing the $4.2 million project that would build 15 housing units to people with low to modest income.
A deal was initially set back in December 2019 but suffered delays due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
Rising construction costs and a labour shortage had also delayed building.
Deputy Warden Paul Jenkins brought forward an amendment to the motion calling for timelines for the Deloro project as well as a project in Bancroft.
The two companies are now required to break ground within 30 days of approval by Ontario’s Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, report back to council by December 28 and have the units ready for occupancy by December 31, 2025.
