A historic Kingston school has been vandalized.
Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute, also known as KCVI, was first opened in 1792, moving to 235 Frontenac Street in 1892.
The school closed in 2020 and was purchased by Queen’s University.
Graduates of the high school include Sir John A Macdonald, Don Cherry, gold medalist Simon Whitfield, actor and musician Hugh Dillon, and members of The Tragically Hip.
On Sunday morning, Kingston police were called to Frontenac Street, responding to a fire alarm.
Upon investigation, it was determined the alarm was caused by excessive flooding in the school.
Pipes were cut, with water soaking ceilings, walls, and floors, and display cases and windows were smashed.
Kingston police are asking that if anyone has information or video footage in the area to contact them.
KCVI is believed to be the oldest high school in Ontario, second oldest in Canada.
