Prosper Belleville released the results from its Business Retention and Expansion project at an event at ACCELERATE, Loyalist College’s Innovation Hub, on Tuesday.
The group was formed in July of 2023 with funding support through the Rural Economic Development Fund.
The project’s goal was to “identify immediate and long-term opportunities to support manufacturing growth and retention in Belleville, foster future investment and attraction activities and inform future strategic planning in the Northeast Industrial Park.”
Data collected through the project led to the creation of 26 action items.
The action items focus around four strategic themes: newcomer supports, labour attraction and retention, business supports, and city services and processes.
A full breakdown of the action items can be found at the City of Belleville’s website.
The next step for the project would be to implement the items over the next three to five years.
