A special event in Toronto turned out to be very good news for the Prince Edward Memorial Hospital Foundation recently.
The architect heading up the design for the new hospital in Picton was speaking in Toronto and the foundation set up a VIP reception event along with it for Toronto residents who have summer homes in The County to learn about the hospital.
Immediately after the reception, one of the people attending donated $1.2 million to the foundation.
Foundation Executive Director Shannon Coull tells Quinte News that even without the donation the reception would have been a great idea.
“Wonderful to witness new friendships being made, giving people an opportunity to learn about the new hospital plans when they haven’t had opportunities in the past.”
An official announcement about the Toronto donation is expected soon.
The foundation has now raised $24.2 million of its $30 million goal.
