The Belleville Police Service board received a number of third quarter reports at its meeting on Thursday.
Among them were reports from Belleville police’s Drugs and Intelligence Unit as well a report on crime statistics during the quarter.
The report from the Drugs and Intelligence Unit outlines that members of Project RENEWAL conducted five investigations, leading to 10 people being arrested and 76 charges being laid.
The majority of the charges were for possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Project Renewal also assisted OPP with the arrest of one person on an outstanding warrant.
In the third quarter report on crime statistics, there was a 55 per cent increase in assaults, 62 per cent increase in criminal harassment incidents, and a 58 per cent increase in uttering threats incidents from the same time period in 2023.
There were 1,117 crimes reported, an increase of three per cent from the same time period in 2023.
