A decision on approving the operating budget for the Belleville Police Service will come at the next meeting of the Belleville Police Service board in January.
Belleville Police Chief Murray Rodd says there are new elements that police are looking at before moving forward on the operating budget.
“This whole asset management program is new. We have to understand what that means and how we can go forward. That’s one area that we have to look at,” Chief Rodd explained to media.
The initial budget is proposed at over $30 million, a near 15 per cent increase from the budget last year.
The next meeting of the Belleville Police Service board is tentatively scheduled for January 16 or 23.
