In early November 2024, members of the Kingston Police Special Services Unit learned of an unlicensed marijuana dispensary operating in the downtown core, distributing illicit cannabis-based products.
A formal investigation into the premises located in the Queen Street and Division Street area was conducted.
Investigators applied to a Justice of the Peace for a search warrant under the Cannabis Act, which was granted, and subsequently executed on Wednesday November 13, 2024.
Upon execution of the search warrant, police located numerous point-of-sale devices, and advertising signage as well as unstamped tobacco products.
Numerous cannabis-based products were also located and seized.
In total, investigators seized the following:
o 5,254 grams of pre-rolled cannabis joints
o 7,582 grams of cannabis infused edible gummies
o 4,058 pre-packaged bud marijuana
o 1,041 unstamped tobacco products
The total street value of the items seized is $170,000.
A 21-year-old Kingston resident was charged with possess cannabis for the purpose of selling it and possession for use in production or distribution of illicit cannabis under the Cannabis Control Act. The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
