Northumberland OPP are investigating a collision which resulted in the closure of westbound lanes on Highway 401.
On November 9, 2024, shortly before 5:30 a.m., Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and OPP responded to a report of a collision involving a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle. One person was reported to have sustained injuries.
Police arrived on scene where a tractor-trailer was on its side with debris and cargo strewn across the lanes, both shoulders, and into the north ditch.
The driver of the commercial vehicle was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. There were no other injuries reported.
A 56-year-old tractor-trailer driver from Woodstock, New Brunswick, has been charged with careless driving.
Westbound lanes were closed in the area with an emergency detour route in place until around 2:00 p.m. when the highway was opened following cleanup and removal of vehicles.
