Two young boys are facing serious charges after an incident involving threats and a replica handgun in Amherstview.
Officers from the OPP were investigating after an incident on Thursday, where two people brandished what appeared to be a firearm and made threats at local stores.
After a social media post by the OPP on Friday, two youths came forward and were arrested on Saturday.
The two 14-year-olds are jointly charged with assault with a weapon, possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose, mischief, using an imitation firearm while committing an offence, uttering threats of death or bodily harm, and robbery with intent.
The two were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Youth Court at a later date. Their names cannot be released under the terms of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Police are reminding residents that a replica handgun or even a toy gun, used during the commission of an offence, is considered the same as using a real weapon.
