The Laval Rocket slipped past the Belleville Senators 4-3 in a shootout on Friday night.
Angus Crookshank and Stephen Halliday scored for the Senators.
The Sens opened scoring with an unanswered first period goal, before both teams tallied a goal in the second. The Rocket took two in the third, with a third Senators goal as well, tied the game and took the teams to overtime. After a scoreless overtime, Laval managed to get a goal in the shootout to win.
Belleville Senators Head Coach Dave Bell said that the team could have played better in the second and third periods.
“I’m not thrilled with the way we played after the first period,” said Coach Bell. “A strong penalty kill, it was outstanding; we kill off a 5 on 3 and then score on a 5 on 3. That should’ve gotten us a win, but some systematic stuff that we didn’t do well, and the commitment to playing the way we need to play wasn’t there after the first.”
The Rocket and the Sens will clash again on Saturday night at the CAA Arena.
