Missing elderly male safely located overnight
On November 8, 2024, at approximately 1:25 a.m., members of the Kingston Police Patrol Division responded to a report of a vulnerable elderly male who had gone missing from his residence located in the downtown area of the city.
Responding officers learned that the male was discovered missing by his spouse around 12:25 a.m. Members of the male’s family searched the area unsuccessfully and subsequently contacted police.
All available patrol units were called to the area to assist with the search. Additionally, Kingston Police Incident Command was initiated to coordinate the search, which included aerial drone support from members of both the Emergency Response Unit and Traffic Unit who were called out to assist with the search.
Along with two drones in the air, the search consisted of a K9-led ground search. Members of the male’s family also assisted police by searching the area.
At approximately 2:55 a.m. a family member observed the male exiting an apartment building on Wellington Street that the male had entered in an attempt to stay warm. The family member alerted nearby officers who immediately responded.
The male was returned home safely where he was assessed by members of the Frontenac Paramedic Service.
